John shared several stories with me about the time he traveled to Colorado with some of his college buddies. They went whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, etc... Well, one of John's favorite things from that trip was hiking up to Long's Peak (at 14,259' elevation). So, on Day 2 of hiking, we headed up to the Long's Peak trailhead.... instead of climbing to the summit, we went up to Chasm Lake which was just shy of 12,000 feet. I could say that we didn't summit because it was iced-over (which we didn't find out until later)... but in all honesty, I didn't want to watch my baby's lips turn blue from the altitude!

The only truly scary part of the hike was traversing across a steep slope covered in snow and ice. One miss-step and you would find yourself sliding down the side of the mountain to land on some huge boulders 200 yards below. Carrying Noah on my back... made my heart beat extremely fast!!! (understatement). I also learned that there is a reason why people tell you not to look down!

It was a GREAT hike... meeting people from all over the world along the way.
